This slow cooker is so nice. You can put a roast in it and put the setting on number 5 and it is done and tender in 3 hours. It a nice size also.

I don't like using big roasters for hot stone massage treatments. This size is ideal for convenience, storage and portability.

I have had one of these for years and years and always loved it. I use the warmer to make hamburgers, toasted cheese, french toast, etc. Mine started really looking bad and I decided I wanted a new one. The new one seems to take longer to heat up, but other than that I guess I just need to get used to it. It really is a versatile product. I make holiday dishes and store them and heat them in the same unit. Overall, a really good product. I am very happy with it.

I just went on line to purchase this cooker because the one I have had for 20+ years just died. I love it because the pot is light, so I can lift it easily, and it goes on the stove because when I cook meat, I always boil the liquid first. I also like the shape because it accommodates large pieces of meat.

I recently bought the West Bend 5 quart oblong slow cooker. It works wonderfully. It's very easy to clean, and very lightweight, compared to a comparable sized crockery type slow cooker. Some of the reviewers obviously didn't read the directions, as the low setting is only for warming. The dial numbers are not like on a crock pot. I found it did a fantastic job on a stew and baked beans. It has a little learning curve since it is different from a crock pot. I will never go back to my heavy, unwieldy crock. I love the fact I can brown my meat on the stove and then transfer the same pan to the cooker base. This also produces a more tasty stew, since the browned bits from the stovetop browning add flavor.
I haven'even tried the little griddle(the base) yet. That is an added bonus. After reading the reviews I see that it has an almost cult following of long time users. I am joining the club.
